Born and raised in a bayou in rural Louisiana, Scott Campbell drew on anything and everything. A natural talent, he learned the tattoo trade in San Francisco, starting at a “scratcher” shop before spending several years in Europe and eventually landing in New York.
In 2004, he opened Saved Tattoo in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The studio, set up like a boutique, has clients that include celebrities like Marc Jacobs and the late Heath Ledger. His tremendous artwork has garnered plenty of attention and he has a current exhibit at the O.H.W.O.W Gallery in Miami, Florida called Make It Rain.
The highlight of the exhibit are surely his incredible laser-etchings into stacks of $1 bills. Now equipped with a laser-etching machine, Scott has extended his canvas beyond the body to products like tables, chairs, skateboards, and of course, laptops. He has opened a new studio called Mama Tried and has done projects and commissions for Camel Cigraettes, ZZ Top, Maserati and Nike.
Truly awesome work, I recommend you visit the sites below for more samples of Scott Campbell’s work.
