THE BERRY HEAD ARCH IN NEWFOUNDLAND

Located on the East Coast Trail to the south of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, is an incredible rock formation known as the Berry Head Arch. The arch overlooks the sea and it’s quite the view for hikers who are willing to make the trek. According to naturalarches.org it’s about a 9.6km (4.75 mile) hike from the East Coast trailhead at Port Kirwan. The specific path you want to take is called the Spurwink Island path.

What’s also interesting is that much of the face of the arch has fallen and landed in huge chunks in the water below. While the picture above was taken in 2002, a more recent photo from 2009 shows just how much has indeed fallen into the water –> seen here.
