The Truth
Biking at night is dangerous. Visibility is reduced, objects (particularly fast moving ones) are difficult to detect, and cyclists are even more susceptible to accidents and collisions with automobiles.
The Insight
Clearly marked bike lanes have proven to be an effective method at protecting cyclists on congested roads. Why? Because it establishes a well-defined boundary beyond the actual cyclist and their bike.
The Solution
Equip bicycles with high-visibility lasers that project two parallel lines on either side of the cyclist, and voila! Instant bike lane aka the LightLane.

The Design
LightLane is patent-pending design by Alex Tee, a mechanical engineer, and Evan Gant, an industrial designer, both from Boston-based design firm Altitude.

LightLane was originally created for the Commuter Bike for the Masses Design Competition to promote commuting by bicycle.
