The Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Japan is home to the world’s second largest aquarium tank, the Kuroshio (Black Current) Sea. It holds 7,500-cubic meters (1,981,290 gallons) of water and features the world’s second largest acrylic glass panel, measuring 8.2 meters (26.9 feet) by 22.5 meters (73.8 feet) with a thickness of 60 centimeters (23.6 inches).

Additional Information:

– There are about 80 species on exhibit including four whale sharks, giant manta rays, and yellow-fin tuna
– All the species housed here can be found thriving around Okinawa – and even the water itself is pumped in from 300 meters offshore
– The tank is 10 meters (32.8 feet) deep, 35 meters (114.8 feet) wide, and 27 meters (88.5 feet) long
