You walk into an office. You’re greeted by a friendly receptionist who tells you to take a seat.
“Person X will be right with you,” they say. You sit down and scan your surroundings.
You see some plants, some awards, a few industry-related magazines, maybe today’s paper.
End scene.
You walk into the HP headquarters in Palo Alto. Before you even approach the desk you notice 20+ massive flat screen panels at least 60 feet long.
You look at the desk, now back to the screen, now back at the desk, now back to the screen!
Look down, back up! Where are you? You’re in lobby of the HP headquarters staring at a screen.
Look again! The screens are now fiberglass. Anything is possible when Tronic is involved.
THE HP MANIFOLD BY TRONIC
The Challenge
Create a large-scale sculpture and video installation that ‘transcends technology and creates an experience that embraces the new’.
The Result
A permanent installation designed by Vivian Rosenthal and Jessi Seppi of Tronic. 60 feet long, with RFP (reinforced fiberglass) shell derived from CNC milling techniques that bridges the divide between the virtual and the actual.
The Must Watch Video
The Spiel
The combination of sculpture and animation in the piece – one side reflects today’s architectural language, while the other is a syncopated video wall – allows visitors’ perceptions to change as a function of time, use and other external influences, exemplifying Tronic’s ability to create abstract, trans-disciplinary works that filter the spirit of our time.
