While the Sifter typically posts dream houses and luxury apartments, it’s important to come back to reality and celebrate architects that tackle real design challenges, like making a 500 square-foot studio apartment feel like a living space you can call home.
Darrick Borowski and Danny Orenstein of Jordan Parnass Digital Architecture (JDPA) have done just that with this cozy East Village studio apartment in New York city. Confined to a mere 500 square-feet (46 sq m), Darrick and Danny use every inch available to create a functional living/working space for the owner. Completed in 2009, this apartment oasis was selected as the winner of the AIA’s (American Institute of Architects) 2010 Small Projects Award!
