Born in 1977, British painter and conceptual artist, Adam Neate, first gained notoriety as a street artist. Born in Colchester, Essex and growing up in Ipswich, Suffolk, Adam’s career originally began in graphic design, working for an advertising agency. Eventually, Adam began to explore painting, often using cardboard because it was cheap and plentiful. Adam started to add dimensionality to his pieces as he continuously layered different pieces of cardboard over each other.

Neate gained notoriety after leaving thousands of his pieces in the streets for anyone to collect. His work began to get noticed and he was given a solo exhibit at the famed Elms Lesters gallery in London. It was there where he delved even deeper into collages and 3D artwork. Below you will find a small sampling of his work. Enjoy!

Adam Neate – Artist Bio

After a five year stretch where Adam left thousands of his pieces in the streets, his first exhibit in August of 2007, called Paintings, Pots and Prints, at Elms Lesters sold out in minutes. In May of 2008 he joined pop surrealist Ron English in the two man show, The Adam and Ron Show.

In 2009, Neate’s solo exhibition, A New Understanding, was a monumental success attracting a record number of visitors and collectors. On November 14th 2009, Neate staged a public event called, The London Show, where he and teams of distributors left 1,000 works over all 33 boroughs of London. An estimated 50,000 people were out that night looking for his pieces.
