Two weeks ago, Redditor SquishyMcPhee posted a gallery of pictures showing a Styrofoam cup completely illustratted inside and out with just a ballpoint pen. The intricate detail is very impressive, but the most fascinating feature is how well the inside of the cup is illustrated with patterns and figures.
On how he came across the artwork, SquishyMcPhee states:
“I went in to the dealership for my free oil change and saw this cup sitting there. The cashier said that a young man had come in to have some work done and it was going to take about three hours. ‘I’ll just doodle’ he said, and grabbed a ball point and a coffee cup.”
The post quickly went viral with the Imgur photo album amassing a staggering 937,000 views. Initially the artist responsible was unknown, but has recently been identified William Hersey, who says it’s his way of recycling styrofoam cups that can take decades to decompose. So instead of discarding them, he draws on them and gives them away to people.
Apparently he’s done thousands of these cups!
