Jaw-Dropping Plant Sculptures from Mosaiculture International 2013

From June 22 to September 29, 2013, the Mosaïcultures Internationales Montréal 2013 – Land of Hope (MIM2013) will be on display at the Montreal Botanical Garden.

The 2013 edition presents more than 50 creations from some 20 countries. The theme of the exposition, Land of Hope, aims to amaze visitors while raising their awareness of the importance of preserving the richness of life on Earth. The organizers have integrated sustainable development practices at every level and is the largest event ever to have received green certification from the City of Montreal.

Mosaiculture is a horticultural art that involves creating and mounting living artworks made primarily from plants with colourful foliage (generally annuals, and occasionally perennials). The ornamental art draws on numerous practices: on sculpture for its structure and volume, on painting for its palette, and on horticulture in its use of plants in a living, constantly changing environment. Mosaiculture should be distinguished from topiary, which features mostly shrubs pruned to create different shapes.

The exhibition will be open seven days a week from 9am – 7pm. Tickets vary from $10.25 – $29.50 with discounts available depending on age, residency and quantity ordered. For full information, please visit the official website at www.mosaiculturesinternationales.ca
