In the foreground is Eschenheimer Turm, the oldest and most unaltered building in the Innenstadt district (city center) of Frankfurt, Germany. Erected at the start of the 15th century (1426-28), the tower was a city gate that was part of the late-medieval fortifications of Frankfurt and is now a major landmark.
Towering above and behind the 47 meter (154 ft) tower is Nextower, a 136 meter tall (446 ft) office building completed in 2009. The fascinating contrast between the two buildings is captured perfectly in this photo by Wikimedia Commons user Epizentrum.
