The remarkable 8-year-old boy in the video above is Liam Fitzgerald. Liam, who has Down syndrome, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at age 4. After a 3.5 year battle, Liam “kicked cancer’s butt,” and has been cancer free for the last year and a half.
This past Tuesday (Nov. 4, 2014) Liam got to sit on the Bruins bench during their pre-game warmup for their match against the Florida Panthers. Liam is a huge Bruins fan, even dressing up as defenseman Adam McQuaid for Halloween last year. [source]
After learning of Liam’s love for the Bruins last year, McQuaid teamed up with the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress and Boston Bruins Foundation to bring Liam and his family to a game last season. He invited them as guests once again this Tuesday as the team went on to beat the Panther 2-1.

Liam, who is a second-grader at Zeh Elementary School in Northboro was voted “Fan of the Game” by the crowd. His mother Christine tells Boston.com:
“People tell us he’s so cute, and this and that. He was given to us to raise and given to the world to love. He brings joy to people. There’s something about him that draws people to him. His smile, his personality. He’s just such a joyful person. He’s taught us a lot about life.”
