Bourton-on-the-water is a quaint village located in the Cotswolds region of Gloucestershire, England. Often referred to as the “Venice of the Cotswolds” because of the River Windrush that runs right through the village centre, Bourton-on-the-water gives visitors a taste of the beautiful English countryside.

One of the villages most popular attractions is a one-ninth scale replica of Bourton-on-the-water, appropriately known as The Model Village. It took local craftsmen five years to build and was officially opened on the Coronation Day of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (the late Queen Mother) in 1937.

You are free to walk around and explore the Model Village which is famous for its miniature bonsai type trees that are carefully pruned to keep them to scale. The attention to detail and craftsmanship is remarkable. In fact, it’s the first model village to ever appear on Google Street View! You can explore the miniature replica village here.

Since the Model Village is a faithful replica, of course there is a miniature replica of the Model Village within the model itself.

Again, being a faithful replica, there’s an even tinier model within that model. I think you know where this is going…

Finally, if you look just left of the center of the photo above you can see the tiniest model of the model of the model of the model village 🙂
