Underwater photographer Bartosz Cieslak recently sent us a series of amazing photos from his most recent dive in Malta with a school of bluefin tuna. Cieslak is a seasoned scuba diver with over 2000 dives and works as a tour operator for a dive centre in Malta. He says a dive with bluefins costs about 35-50 Euros.

A single tuna can weigh approximately 400 kg (880 lbs) so that should give you an idea of the size of the fish seen in these photos. When asked about the experience, Ciezlak remarked:

“When you brood in the middle of the water swimming still using your buoyancy, the whirl of tunas around you is sucking you to the inside of the whirl, and school of tunas swimming around you are making you unconscious, that you cannot be sure about your position. This is like a carousel.”

For more info you can check out Bartosz’s official site as well as his Flickr account where you can find many more underwater photos.
