A rare ‘hole punch cloud’, also known as a Fallstreak hole, was spotted last November over the town of Korumburra, a small town in Victoria, Australia’s Gippsland region.
The rare cloud phenomenon occurs when part of a cloud’s water droplets freeze into ice crystals and fall below the cloud layer. ABC News audience members (including the one above by Peter Fell) submitted a gallery of amazing photos of the cloud which you can see here.
