In this fascinating time capsule from 1900 we see what life was like in New York City at the turn of the century. Mulberry is positively bustling with people, horses and buggies. According to the Library of Congress, the photo was part of an album prepared by the Detroit Photographic Co. to use as a catalogue in its office.

Mulberry Street is a principal thoroughfare in Manhattan. It is heavily associated with Italian-American culture and history and is often considered the heart of Manhattan’s Little Italy. The street was listed on maps of the area since at least 1755.
