Located just outside of the small town of Taupo, New Zealand are the amazing Huka Falls, where 220,000 liters of water thunders over the 11-meter (36 ft) high waterfall every second. That’s enough to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool in about 11 seconds!

The Huka Falls are located on the Waikato River, which drains into Lake Taupo. In most places, the river is 100 meters (328 ft) wide but it abruptly narrows to about 15 meters (49 ft) as it crosses a hard volcanic ledge north of Lake Taupo. This causes a huge volume of water to collide and funnel through the rocky gorge, forming the powerful falls and rapids seen above. [source]
