Aleppo is an ancient metropolis and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Since the Battle of Aleppo started in 2012, the city has suffered unspeakable damage, and has been the worst-hit city in the ongoing Syrian Civil War.
Since 2014, a local Aleppo restaurant named Olympia has been updating a Facebook album with heartbreaking before and after photos documenting the unbelievable destruction the city and its citizens have endured.
There are over 133 before and after photos showing just how dire the situation has become. UNESCO World Heritage Sites have been demolished, along with Mosques, markets, roads, parks, and countless buildings.
Below you will find 40 chilling before and after photos from Aleppo. You can find the entire gallery on Olmypia Restaurant’s Facebook page.
