Last week comedy writer Bess Kalb shared a series of hilarious captions written by her cousin’s 9-year-old daughter, Alice, for the New Yorker’s famous weekly caption contest.
Bess says Alice grabs every issue before her mom can get a hold of it. She also knows every lyric to the musical Hamilton. As her tweets of the captions went viral, Bess used the opportunity to plead for teachers, parents and friends to encourage and nurture creative writing in young girls, providing a long string of thoughts on why. As the story has started to make its rounds online, Alice’s Mom has recently set up a twitter account where you can follow Alice’s New Yorker captions at @AliceCaptions
