For the last 5 years, the SIGNAL Festival of Lights has been largest cultural event in the Czech Republic, drawing over 2 millions attendees to Prague since its inception.
This year’s festival, which ran from October 11-14 featured over 20 installations; most of which were site-specific, light and 3D projection mapping projects, often combined with audio. They were installed in the downtown neighborhoods of Karlin, Centrum and Vinohrady.
The size and scale of the installations are hard to convey online. It’s a true sensory overload, a shared experience with thousands of other attendees, and the contrast with new technologies and art forms projected onto historic facades like old Basque churches creates quite the juxtapositions.
We were honoured to have been invited to attend this year’s event and below you can find some images from our favourite installations along with a few embedded videos that hopefully help convey what you can expect should you decide to attend next year.
