The Little Pocket in Women’s Underwear Has a Purpose

At some point, you’ve probably wondered what the heck that little pocket in the crotch area of your underwear is for…or if it has any purpose at all…

Well, it turns out that it does serve a purpose.

This little pocket/flap is actually called a gusset, which is defined as “a triangular or rhomboidal piece of fabric inserted into a seam to add breadth or reduce stress from tight-fitting clothing.”

So basically, the gusset is there to give women a little more comfort in their nether regions, and who doesn’t want that, right?
