Most of us go out with a reasonable expectation that we’re not being filmed in our most vulnerable moments. Considering how many cameras exist (one in everyone’s hands), we probably shouldn’t be – and this article will remind you of exactly that.

The TikTok video was uploaded by Giselle (@kiddycatmeow) and focuses on a sign that declares “shoplifters will be prosecuted” before zooming in on two small cameras hung on the ceiling above the dressing room.

“Be more aware of ur surroundings! This is a Ross!!”

Although some states do ban surveillance cameras in dressing rooms, most allow it as long as the purpose of the camera is loss prevention.

If you’re not ready to trust that everyone monitoring those cameras is focusing on stolen items, though, check your room before you change clothes.

As for Giselle, she thinks this is a hard line that shouldn’t be crossed.

“I believe this is wrong for any store to do, to invade anyone’s privacy. That’s why we go into the fitting rooms, for no one else to see us. Having a camera view from the reflection of the mirror is very uncomfortable. Regardless if it’s fake or pointing into a different direction, it simply should just NOT be there.”

The comments were stunned and honestly pretty angry.

“What the…this is nightmare fuel!”

And for this person, it’s just proving that their paranoia was well-founded.

“Oh nope. Hell nope. I feel like I can’t even trust toilets now. What if there’s cameras in there. Meh I’m so paranoid.”

Others, though, pointed out that it might not be what it looks like.

“Maybe a quarter or a third of dome cameras are actually cameras, the rest are there to scare you. But I’d still report it to the authorities.”

Some people seem to have some behind-the-scenes knowledge.

“I can promise you those don’t see anything. They are probably fisheye which barely see anything let alone a 2-inch reflection.”

I feel like most paying customers would probably agree.

Then again, the non-paying customers probably would, too.
