They Got A Lecture About How Much They Should Water Their Lawn During a Drought. It Ended Up Being More Than They Were Already Doing.

It’s amazing how incompetent some people can be, isn’t it?

But I guess none of us should be surprised because we deal with this kind of stuff every day!

Check out how this person pulled a fast one on the water company.

Jeez!

Follow your lawn watering guidelines? No problem!

“Where I live we have a severe drought this year, and restrictions have been placed on when and how much we can water.

While I have spent the last couple of years working hard in my yard restoring it and making it nice, I support the efforts to conserve water, and my lawn is slowly turning brown.

This year our irrigation supplier installed meters to track usage and started sending reports to us on how we are doing.

My first two reports showed that I was using 50 and 57% of what I would be expected to use for my yard in a normal year.

I thought that was pretty good, but nowhere on the letter did it say what percentage I should be shooting for.

So, being a good citizen, I decided to call the company and ask if 57% was acceptable, or if I should try and cut back more.

Well, that took a wrong turn.

Instead of being told a number to aim for, I got lectured that I had been watering my lawn every other day, when I was supposed to be watering only twice a week.

I admitted that I had been watering every other day, but a very small amount, and that the watering plan I chose for myself resulted in less water consumed compared to what they suggested on their website.

They said it doesn’t matter. I am required to follow the watering plan listed on their website.

If I continue to water the way I had been, I will be fined and eventually have my water cut off.

If you say so!

So I said fine, I will follow your guidelines, and adjusted my timer accordingly.

By my math, my sprinklers will now be running about 25% more than they were previously. I’m sure my lawn will be grateful.”

These people obviously have no idea what they’re doing…

But I’m not sure that’s a surprise to anyone.
