When you’re an adult and dealing with an 8-year-old who’s wreaking havoc near your home, what do you do?

Most people would have a quick word with the kid’s parents or brush it off, but not this guy.

Instead, he called the police and watched the situation spiral into chaos, complete with tears, hyperventilation, and angry parents.

Read on for the story…

AITA for calling 911 on a pesky 8 year old neighbor boy

I’m a 34 year old man if that makes any difference.

There’s a kid who lives in my development but not on my same street. However he takes it upon himself to play on the dead end street right next to my house that is on a corner.

He throws sticks, tries to break stones and rocks next to my house.

I’ve told him to stop many times. I don’t know who his parents are until the 911 incident.

So yesterday he was up to no good and throwing rocks. I told him to stop coming here and he talked back and said shut up.

So I decided to call 911. The police showed up and the kid got scared silly and started crying and hyperventilating.

Oh. My. Gosh.

His dad ended up coming and started calling me a dirtbag for calling the cops on a 8 year old boy.

I told the dad to pound sand and said he needs to control the boy better.

The dad had to tell the police he would make sure the kid wouldn’t come near my home anymore and play.

As they were leaving I yelled to the kid “that’s what you get you little punk” and slammed my door.

You said WHAT?

I told my mom about it and she told me she couldn’t believe that I would go that far.

My wife was out of town when it happened but she got bothered and said she was embarrassed.

Was I a jerk for this?

Was calling 911 was a bit too extreme? Uhhh, obviously.

Reddit is ripping him a new one.

This person says what a tattletale.

This person can’t imagine not letting a kid be a kid.

And this person knows first hand how annoying these calls are.

Calling the cops on a kid’s antics?

That’s some top-notch overreaction.
