Imagine being rather tall, and someone who is rather short asks for your help reaching something off of a high shelf at the grocery store. Would you help them?

In this story, one person is in this exact situation, but it’s a bit more complicated because of an incident that happened earlier in the same store.

Let’s read all the details.

Teased a short person at the Supermarket by holding something just out of reach

Had an odd one this morning.

Went to do the shopping this morning here in New Zealand. Its 9am on a Tuesday so its very quiet and with Pak N Saves famous wide aisle policy there’s plenty of room for everyone…. or so you’d think.

I stop in front of the milk and just as im grabbing it someone bumps into me with their trolley. Not my fault whatsoever but I just turn around and say sorry anyway.

They just respond with that vacant death stare.

But that wasn’t the last they saw of each other.

i just walk away- we’re not a confrontational people by nature and as rude as it was no harm was done. Plus I figure they might not speak English.

Then a couple minutes later I turn into the aisle with Oil and I hear “excuse me”

I glance over and it’s the same person. They just point at the Olive Oil on the top shelf that they can’t reach.

I’m kinda stunned at the audacity of asking me for help but I keep my cool and ask if she wants the Virgin or Extra Virgin.

Time for revenge.

They reply “Extra Virgin” so I reach up grab the bottle but instead of handing it to her I say “you realize I’m the guy you hit with your trolley two minutes ago, right?”

Their jaw kinda drops briefly before they go back to pretending to be mute with the death stare.

So I just held the bottle up in the air and said “I am not helping you unless you apologize”, then held it for a few more seconds of silence before putting it back on the shelf and walking away.

I’m surprised the lady didn’t just say “sorry” and move on with her life. She didn’t deserve help getting the olive oil.

Let’s see how Reddit responded to this story.

Nobody wants to help someone who’s rude.
