Many people have been turning to online shopping because of how chaotic brick and mortar stores are.
How do you handle shoppers who lose their cool in public? One guy recently shared a sneaky way he dealt with an annoying fellow customer with Reddit. Here’s what went down.
Garbage can lady doesn’t understand personal space
This was at the hardware store where I live.
I got my stuff and went to check out.
There was only one cashier so there was a pretty long line.
This can make a simple errand take forever.
That’s when our antagonist, some woman in her 40’s, gets in line behind me carrying a trash can, one of those aluminum ones with a bunch of her stuff in it.
I assume she’s got no sense of personal space because that garbage can gets set down right at my heels with a big *BANG*…those things are loud.
In what world does she think that’s okay?
I didn’t say anything, but I gave her one of those looks where you look at the trash can and then up at her with just a blank expression… as expected, she didn’t move it.
I fear y’all will think it wasn’t that close… I can assure you it was at most 4 inches from my heels.
The line moves up, so I finally get to move away from this thing.
He must have thought he was getting his way.
That’s when I hear her pick it up, move forward, and *BANG* it’s up on my heels…again.
So, the next time the line moves, I don’t.
I let a big gap form before I move, and then I do. Slowly.
That’s one way to handle a situation like that.
I took one step, and *BANG*.
A few seconds later, another step.
Just a little one.
This situation is sitcom-worthy.
She picks it up, and *BANG* so I move again.
And again.
Straight face, never looked back.
The straight face part is the most unbelievable out of all of this.
So for a good 5 minutes, I has this lady obliviously hauling her stuff every few seconds with a big *BANG* each time she slammed that thing down.
I figured she would’ve caught on or at least started dragging it but nope.
I got in the car with a big smile, and went on with my day.
Some people just simply can’t read a room. Let’s see what the good people of Reddit had to say about this one.
The comments immediately latched onto how relatable this was.
Others jumped straight to puns.
One person pointed out the scientific method.
Another offered some valid advice.
One piece of advice topped all of it, however.
This is why you shouldn’t keep stores understaffed.
