When kids are in a bad mood, they will say or do anything to get out of whatever they are supposed to be doing at the moment.

What would you do if your child tried to hurt your feelings by saying that they loved their plant just as much as they loved you?

That is what happened to the parents in this story, so mom said that if this was the case, the plant could put her to bed that evening with no snuggles or stories, allowing her to relax on the couch.

My 9 year old is trying to be stubborn and argue everything tonight.

This is common for kids.

She’s in an irritable mood.

Because of this, she ended up saying that she loves her carnivorous plants the same as she loves me, and she’s too cross to backtrack.

That’s a weird hill to die on, but kids can be funny sometimes.

She maintained that in a fire she would not be able to choose which of us to save.

So, I told her that in that case, her plant can take her upstairs to brush teeth and she won’t be afraid by herself because her plant will be there.

I told her she can take her plant to bed and she won’t need me to cuddle with her or read to her or turn out the lights because her plant can do it.

So she’s either going to have to admit that I’m worth more to her than her plant, or I’m going to get to just lie on the couch reading while she puts herself to bed.

Talk about a win-win, great job with the parenting, this is just too funny.
