Movie theaters are meant to be free from distractions… and drama!

In this story, a woman confronted a family who kept using their phones during a movie.

The mother defended her kids’ behavior, so she responded with snarky comments.

What started as a quiet complaint quickly turned into a tense and unexpected confrontation.

Let’s take a closer look!

AITA for telling a woman to have her and her kids get off their phone at the movies resulting them either getting kicked out or leaving?

I saw a movie last night.

During the movie, I was distracted by a family two rows in front of me.

There was a mom, a teen son, a teen daughter, and maybe a 7-year-old daughter.

This woman noticed the family members were using their phones.

The first issue was that the son was constantly moving seats throughout the movie.

At one point, he was sitting in front of his family.

The mom was on her phone for most of the movie.

At several points, she was filming the movie.

The mom and son were taking turns using their phones.

She went up to the mother and asked them to get off their phones.

They then passed one of the phones to the 7-year-old.

She was playing games. It was super distracting.

So I went up and whispered to the mom to get off their phones.

She said, “She’s playing a game,” and “She was not doing anything wrong.”

She continued making snarky comments.

I said it was a movie theater. They were not supposed to be on their phones.

The mom said I could ask nicer.

I said she could be a better example to her kids and she should actually parent them properly.

Then I walked away.

They got up and started leaving the theater.

A couple of minutes later, I was about to get up.

I was going to talk to an employee because they were still on their phones.

But the mom got up and left. She was gone for a few minutes.

Then, the kids got up and left.

The son called her names.

The teen daughter said, “Hope you’re happy.”

She said I should be ashamed of myself for talking to a grown woman like I was a grown man.

The son called me a punk and a b****.

He took my collector popcorn bucket from next to me and started to run away.

Now, she’s wondering if she was in the wrong.

When I got up to go after him, he dropped it.

Then he ran off.

AITA?

The whole interaction was just really weird.

Finally, here’s a valid point from this one.

All she wanted was a quiet movie, but ended up watching a live drama instead.
