It’s pretty wild how many people out there legitimately don’t think that rules apply to them.

They think they can float through life doing their own thing and no one is gonna call them out about it…

Until today!

Take a look at what this guy had to say about an encounter he had with a security guard that left him ticked off.

AITA for asking to stay parked in a disabled parking spot for a few minutes?

“I went to take a family member to a emergency clinic, and unfortunately the clinic only had 4 disabled parking spots and no other parking area.

While my family member checked in, I asked how long the wait time was. Lucky they said he was the only person there, so very quick.

Uh oh…

I came outside and put my car in one of the 4 disabled spots, all were empty.

There were two other cars but they were parked in a no park zone which is right next to the disabled parking area. I placed my car in reverse, engine on, with emergency lights just in case someone in needs the spot … even thought there were 3 more empty spots.

Less then a minute later the security guard comes and tells me I need to move because it’s disabled parking spot.

He wanted the guard to cut him a break…

I agree with him but tell him that I’m ready to move, just give me about 10 minutes or so because there’s a patient inside.

My family member unfortunately had left their phone at home so there was no way to contact me, and they had difficulty walking in their current condition. The guard refused to budge. He threatens to issue give a fine … I’m assuming he meant he was going to call the cops.

I point out to him that there were two other cars parked in the no parking area and there was no one else in the car. He said he didn’t care. While I understand and would never park in a disabled area, I had the car turned on and ready to move the second someone arrives.

This wasn’t going anywhere…

He refused.

Not wanting to argue, I move the car to the side of the building (it’s a big drop off area) where I would not be in anyone’s way. The minute I park, the guard comes out and says I cannot park there. I try to reason with him that I’m not here for very long, to give me a couple of minutes and I’ll be out of there.

I wasn’t in anyone’s way and my engine was on. I would move the second anyone else needed the space. Apparently that was not enough for him. He started to raise his voice and said I was becoming very difficult while he was being polite and nice, I should mention I had not raised my voice with him.

I was trying to reason with him in a calm manner.

He refused so I just gave up, and drove onto the street and parked myself with the emergency lights on. He literally stood there watching me leave the clinic building area.

Now here’s why I believe that this was a case of my race. I’m a visible Muslim.

Hmmm…

The guard was of African origin. Less then 5 minutes later, a white male parks in the no park zone to drop off his family members by the building and stayed there for over 10 minutes. Not once did the guard come and tell him to leave.

As for how long did it take, well my family member was seen and checked out within the time it took me to open this app and post. So approximately 15 minutes or so.
