It’s one thing to get impatient while waiting for food, but another to unexpectedly grab your server by the shoulder.

One hotel restaurant employee dealt with that after a coach tour arrived for meals that were being cooked fresh to order.

The guests had already been warned that the food would take longer, but one older man still kept watching the server while he waited.

Then, while she was working at the coffee machine, she suddenly felt someone grab her shoulder and hold on.

When she turned around, the man was standing there asking whether his beef was ready yet.

I had just started my shift.

Our hotel restaurant had a reservation for a coach tour. Instead of the usual preorders, the guests from this tour were allocated times to come in, be seated, and have their order taken.

Because of this, the meals were being cooked from fresh, so it’s gonna take longer.

Front the go, the older man seemed impatient.

A couple in their 60s comes in. They’re soon seated, and I’m handed the cheque to take into the kitchen.

The guy is ******* staring at me the second I get to the kitchen door and is still staring the moment I come out.

Once I come out, I then begin to prepare the coffee machine for tea/coffee served after dessert. Takes about 15 minutes. It’s a slow old thing.

When she turned around, he was looking at her.

Then I feel something holding my shoulder.

First, I think maybe I flicked my serving cloth onto my shoulder. But no. The longer I don’t move, I can feel a grip. A FULL GRIP. It’s a hand, a ******* hand. The other staff know I don’t like to be touched due to an incident in my past.

I turn around. It’s him, “Is my beef ready yet?”

She just cannot believe the nerve of some people.

***? You were told there’d be a wait because of it being cooked from fresh. It ain’t my fault your tour manager wanted it this way.

In my head, I’m thinking, “Please get your crusty, century-old hand off my shoulder. You don’t need to keep holding on.”

So I reply, “It will be ready soon, sir. In the meantime, can I top up your water?”

That shut him up. *** is wrong with people.

Yikes. It’s easy to see why it frustrated her, but at least he gave it up pretty quickly.

What this guy did was not okay.

Plenty of people who eat at restaurants have to wait for their food. Yet, that doesn’t give them the right to grab someone by the shoulder.

The better thing to do was simply say something to get her attention.

Let’s hope the guy learned a lesson and doesn’t do this again. But that probably didn’t happen.
