We all take things in different ways.
Meaning, what offends or annoys one person might roll off of another individual’s back.
You just never know!
But one thing is for sure…this woman was not playing around when she took offense to something that a customer had to say in her restaurant.
Check out what happened and see if you think she’s taking things too personally.
AITA for assuming a customer’s comment was a micro-aggression?
“I (black woman, late 20s) work in a management position at a busy bar/restaurant.
The other day, I was behind the bar helping one of my employees when a random customer looks at me and says:
“So what… are you an employee here?”
No greeting, no small talk, just straight to that.
Well, actually…
I looked at him for a second and replied in my nicest voice:
“Manager”
And he goes, “OOOOOH, status.”
Then I went back to what I was doing, smiled at him and his group, and said, “Have a great day.” They all gave those awkward little smiles and said “Thank you”.
That was weird…
To me, it felt like he was questioning whether I belonged there or could be in charge… because WHY would you ask somebody that unprovoked?
When I mentioned it to my GM, he just brushed it off and said something like, “Well, at least he’s looking out for the place,” which also didn’t make sense to me
AITA for being bothered?”
Let’s see how folks reacted on Reddit.
This person had a lot to say.
Another individual spoke up.
Another Reddit user weighed in.

And another Reddit user said she’s NTA.
That was strange…
And she’ll never really know what this person was getting at…
She shouldn’t let one small comment get her so bent out of shape…
