Some family disagreements start over money or holidays, and some start over a single Instagram post.
This story follows a wildlands firefighter who shared a photo of herself relaxing on a work trip. To her, she was just soaking up some well-deserved time off, but her family saw it completely differently.
Soon her family complained that her post was insensitive, considering three other firefighters in her field had recently passed away.
But the firefighter balked at this overstep and refused to take the post down.
Soon a full-blown argument erupted between them.

AITA for posting about where my job took me
So I, F23, am a wildlands firefighter and I get sent out to a lot of other states and such.
Well I got sent to another state and when I got free time I decided to take a simple pic of me relaxing on my free time.
In her view, there wasn’t anything remotely controversial about her photo, but her family disagreed.
It wasn’t anything that I thought would be bad, it didn’t even have the fire.
But after I posted it I got a message from some of my family members that were saying it was in bad taste to post pictures like that since there were 3 wildlands firefighters who died recently.
So she defends her view, but her family refuses to listen.
I told them I didn’t think that it was because it was just me relaxing on my free time in the nice area I was at and I wasn’t even close to the area they were at, not even the same state. They still said it was bad taste and that I should take it down to which I told them it wasn’t gonna happen.
They said that I’m a bad person and an AH for it.
AITA?
This seems like a strange thing to get up in arms about.

It’s her life, so she should be able to document it free of guilt.
There’s a fine line, and as far as this commenter is concerned, this firefighter hasn’t crossed it yet.
Her family is acting pretty dang selfish.

This firefighter knows the difference between her job and her life off the clock, even if her family doesn’t.
Grief doesn’t give people ownership over someone else’s photo, especially when there’s no actual connection to the tragedy in question.
Her relatives jumped straight to outrage instead of asking a single clarifying question, which says more about their reaction than her post ever could.
Refusing to delete it wasn’t defiance for the sake of it; it was just refusing to accept blame for something she didn’t do.
Not every photo needs a disclaimer. This one didn’t need deleting either.
