I’m gonna go ahead and say right now that this story sounds like a soap opera.

It’s got it all, folks!

Drama, intrigue, betrayal, you name it!

And the guy who is actually going through it is pretty upset, as he should be.

Take a look at what he had to say about the guy he hired to work on his house who has taken a special interest in his wife.

AITA because I want revenge on a contractor who is texting my wife?

“I M (58) and my wife, Peggy, F (60) recently remodeled a country home that we purchased a few years back.

The home was a mess and after interviewing many contractors, we settled on a gentleman that we will call Matt, to redo our home.

Matt is in his late 40s, and a friendly gentleman with a shy personality to newcomers. He is appeared, when we first met, to be very self conscience and somewhat shy. Once we got to know him, his personality opened up and I felt this guy was a player.

Matt was divorced, had a teenage son that lived with his ex, and he was dating and living with a woman, Jessica, that was also divorced about 2 years prior. He is now married to Jessica, taking the plunge with her March of 2023.

Here’s the deal…

A little about my wife, Peggy. She is 60, but doesn’t look it…She looks like she is in her mid 40’s. She is a beautiful woman with Dark Black Hair, and Brown Eyes, I call her my brown eyed girl. We have been married for 30 years.

During that time, like all married people, we have had our ups and downs. Recently we have been in a down cycle. Mostly due to me and my actions, but that is another story. I am very much in love with my wife.

When we remodeled our home we took it down to the studs and totally rebuilt it. This man is a craftsman and does excellent work. Due to the condition of the home, the remodel took a year.

I have learned through the years to let my wife choose the decor of the home, and make the design decisions, after all a happy wife equals a happy life.

Matt and Peggy would go together to different design centers, shop for tile, and fixtures, choose crown molding, bathroom design, the whole nine yards, and I would stay behind to work on our business.

During that time they spent together, I am sure Matt started to develop a strong feeling towards Peggy. The woman is dynamic, funny, strong – mentally and physically, and extremely beautiful.

This was getting interesting…

Our home was finished in the summer of 2023 and we moved in. To celebrate his work, we invited Matt and Jessica to dinner, and at that time, I started to notice that Matt was staring, glancing and constantly checking out Peggy.

He would make quirky comments to her, that I am sure caught the attention of Jessica.

Fast forward to March 2024, and we found another house for sale that was our dream home…. A one story house in an exclusive, gated neighborhood, sitting on an acre of land surrounded by oak trees and wildlife.

The home was a short sale, built in 2020, and we got a great deal, and moved in in April 2024. It is located about 20 miles from our other home, which we turned into a rental (our plan all along).

We asked Matt to come look at our new home as it needed some work, as the old owners did not keep up with basic maintenance and probably ran out of money (hence why it was a short sale).

This guy isn’t exactly subtle…

During the walk through I noticed that he was making flirty comments to my wife, and looking at Peggy in a way that I had saw at the dinner the year prior. When he would see me looking he would quickly comment on work that needed and avert his eyes.

He put together a bid for the work we were going to have done, and told us what he was going to do and didn’t even listen to what we wanted.

We decided not to go with the work as we felt the bid was significantly overpriced, not the work we wanted and told Matt that we were going to hold off.

Then the phone calls to my wife started to come in. Asking when we were going to start the project.

He also started sending DMs to my wife’s Instagram account, and text messages. Peggy let me know he kept reaching out and asking when he could start the work, and she kept telling him we were holding off, but she didn’t share with me what was in the DMs.

She had enough of this clown.

Peggy was tired of his DMs and told me that she blocked him on Instagram.

As I mentioned Peggy and I are in a down period of our marriage, but we are committed to being faithful to each other. I returned from a business trip this last weekend and we were discussing our relationship.

That is when Peggy informed me that Matt had been texting her, and he was such a pig because not only was he texting her, he is married, and his comments were inappropriate.

She shared that his DMs on Instagram were on the flirty side, and that is why she felt the need to block him (This was the first time I heard this).

His texts included things like “I miss my friend” and “I wish you hadn’t moved away” along with other more inappropriate texts..

When Peggy told me what was happening I got angry. I didn’t show it to Peggy, but I was burning inside. I feel like this guy wants to move in on my wife….the woman I have loved over 30 years and I am not going to let that happen.

AITA because I want revenge?

I know they are only text messages, and DMs, but the intent by him is real. I want him to know that I know, and I want to hurt him.”
