Parenting can be a difficult job, and in some cases, it only gets harder as they get closer to becoming an adult.
What would you do if your daughter kept oversleeping in the morning and then demanding that you give her a ride to school when she should be walking?
That is what was happening to the mother in this story, so she finally got sick of it, yelled at her daughter, and refused to take her to school. Now she is wondering if she went too far.
While her daughter should be more responsible, it really seems like Mom is expecting her to do more than is reasonable. Read through the full story below and see if you agree.
AITAH for not driving my daughter to school?
I, 43 F, was sleeping this morning since I had been up all night.
Her daughter should be able to drive herself. Or walk.
My husband (Daughter’s stepfather) kicked me out of bed since we had an argument and I slept on the couch and just stayed up all night watching Ink Masters.
My daughter, 17 (two weeks 18) F, has been recently getting up late more and more. I don’t know why, but she needs to set her alarms sooner or louder or something, because I’m getting sick of driving an almost adult around.
I can see why she would be frustrated.
She came to me early in the morning, saying she missed the bus. I brushed it off and went back to sleep.
Around now, he came to me again, asking if I was gonna drive her or not, so I lost my cool and told her this is the 3rd time in 2 weeks.
Parenting can be a hassle sometimes.
I told her she needed to get up and I’m exhausted. I ignored her and she went back upstairs.
I’m sick of her not getting up, me getting fines, and her missing her school and work.
Well, she should be buying her food.
She doesn’t even respect me or call me mom anymore, she keeps stealing my food and drinks I buy as ‘revenge’ after I accidentally drank her soda, and I’m tired of this brat not treating me with respect when I’m the one keeping a nearly 18 year old afloat because she can’t.
AITA?
Mom is acting like her daughter is 27, not 17. While the daughter should certainly be getting herself up on time, it is Mom’s job to have food for her and other things.
Let’s see what the people in the comments have to say about this situation.
This commenter is exactly right.
She really does.
Someday, Mom will wonder why her daughter doesn’t talk to her.
This is exactly what I was thinking.

This really could be rage bait.
Mom needs to grow up and do her job. She can’t expect her daughter to behave maturely when she sets such an awful example.
It just doesn’t make sense that some parents act like their kids are nothing but a burden.
