Even plans made months in advance have a way of unraveling fast when one person keeps backing out at the worst possible moments.

One woman had spent months organizing a concert trip with her friend, only to watch plans fall apart.

The night before the show, her friend cancelled for a petty reason, so when she offered to use the abandoned ticket instead of losing the money altogether, her friend agreed it was fine.

But the real drama started when her friend backtracked and started demanding the money for her ticket after the concert had already happened.

That’s when a reasonable arrangement turned into a full blown fallout that spread through her entire friend group.

Keep reading for the full story.

AITA for refusing to pay my friend back for a concert after she cancelled on me

My friend and I had planned for months to go to a concert for my favorite artist. The closest concert was in London, which is a 2 hour drive from us, so we decided to get the train and potentially book a hotel.

Soon, her friend started soft launching the fact that she wasn’t actually that serious about attending.

However, the week before the concert when I tried to organise transport, she kept making excuses not to, such as her dad saying he could drive us and changing his mind.

This meant that the day before the concert we still had nothing booked, so I messaged her asking to sort it out asap.

Then she just came right out and said it.

She replied saying she couldn’t go as she had “gotten too drunk” the night before and her parents said no, yet that same night she went out to another city to get drunk again.

This woman tried to take the disappointment in stride and move forward with getting the money back for the unused ticket.

I was a little annoyed but decided to move past it. I asked her if I could use her ticket and let her know there was not enough time to resell, so I would not be able to get her money back. She said that was fine and we left it at that.

Soon she realized she and her friend weren’t on the same page at all.

After the concert she then messaged me asking me for the money back for her ticket, and when I tried to explain she said I could use it, she said I had to send her money and I couldn’t expect to use it and not send her anything.

After a long back and forth trying to explain that my boyfriend (who used her ticket) could not afford to randomly send her £150 for the ticket, which we thought was free, she told me not to speak to her again and that I was out of order.

She decided to call her friend out for this entitled behavior.

I then told her she was being a **** and that I didn’t wanna speak to her anyway, out of anger.

I then found out today that she has told our whole friend group about her side and what I called her, and that they are all planning to meet up tomorrow without me.

Now she’s really mad and wonders if she took things too far.

I messaged her telling her she was wrong for involving the others and that I had enough respect for her to not do that, and she continued to tell me that she wasn’t sorry and that we won’t come to an agreement, so now I’m left in a weird position with the entire friend group, and have been excluded due to this.

Was I in the wrong, or am I valid to think that I should not have to send her money for the concert when she cancelled on me?

This friend sounds like a real trip.

What did Redditors make of all this?

Good friends don’t behave this way.

This commenter doesn’t understand why the friend switched up her attitude.

Her friend was being just plain unreasonable.

What this friend did was just out of line, no question about it.

An agreement is only as reliable as the person willing to stand by it, and this woman learned that lesson the hard way.

Times like these really show you how dependable your friends are, and judging by this whole concert debacle, this woman really needs some better ones.

Some people are walking red flags.
