His New Job Isn’t Required to Give Him Any Breaks—and the Burnout Is Catching Up to Him

What year is it again…?

I’m asking that question because I couldn’t believe what I was reading in the story below and it made me wonder if I’d taken a time machine back a few decades.

And you’ll see what I mean in just a minute…

Check out what this worker had to say about the ridiculous demands they’re dealing with at their new job.

Just found out that the state I moved to is not legally obliged to offer breaks.

“I trained for one day already at this kitchen job, it was for 8 hours.

I work again in a few hours for 8 hours, then after that I have two 10 hours shifts.

This sounds rough…

During this time, there is no chair to sit down in, I’m constantly moving, and the person who’s training me said they don’t even usually have a chance to go to the bathroom until the end of their 10 hour shift.

According to Virginia state law, nobody here is required to offer their employees breaks, even during a 10 hour shift.

How can this be real?

I have no idea what to tell this manager.

What’s he supposed to do now?

Part of me wants to try and stay for the tips if I can get an evening job at their one location which offers it, but if that doesn’t work out, I’ll miss out on the hospital job I have lined up, which pays a bit more but doesn’t grant tips.

After just 8 hours, my knees and back felt like they were going to explode. I’ve worked for amazon for a year and received better treatment from them.

I just don’t know what to do.

On top of this all, I left the first day and found a note on my windshield of someone saying they saw my car got hit in the parking lot, and sure enough, there was broken headlight glass all over the ground.”

Dude…

Get the hell out of there and find something else!

This is nuts!

It sounds like this job definitely isn’t worth it…
