His Roommate Wouldn’t Stop Stealing Food — So He Ate A Container Of Sugar-Free Gummy Bears And Instantly Regretted It

It’s hard to feel bad for someone when they keep doing the exact thing everyone has asked them to stop doing.

Today, we meet a group of college students who dealt with this exact thing after their roommate kept eating everyone’s food without asking.

At first, they tried talking to him and even told him he could have some if he simply asked first.

But he kept taking the best food without asking anyway, and with money already tight, everyone was getting fed up.

So, when they discovered some sugar-free gummy bears with a pretty nasty side effect, they decided to teach him a lesson.

Read on to see what it was.

The gummy bears are mine

This happened more than 15 years ago, when I was in college and living in a rented apartment with 3 other guys from the same school.

It was right after the financial crisis of 2008, not at the worst of it, but in a not-so-lucky part of the EU. Money was tight, even for food.

We suspected H, one of the roommates, of eating our food regularly. When confronted, he did admit it, although he clearly did not understand the problem with it.

At first, they didn’t mind helping him out.

We all knew he was the poorest among us, and we all told him it was okay if he wanted some of our food. But he needed to ask before taking it.

For us, there was nothing worse than coming home from evening classes exhausted, looking forward to a homemade meal you had brought back from grandma’s over the weekend, only to find out it was gone. By then, the cheap places were usually closed or too far away, so you just went to sleep hungry.

But H didn’t seem to understand at all.

The worst part was that the better the food was, the more likely it was to disappear. Got a salad? Untouched. Got some chicken wings? A few of them went missing. Got a cake? All gone.

Frustrated, they came up with a plan to teach him a lesson.

That’s when we discovered that a locally popular gummy bear brand had released new sugar-free bears. The first reactions online said they tasted just like the originals, or even better, but if you couldn’t control yourself and ate a whole bag, 100g or more, you’d get the runs.

We knew we had found the ideal product for our plan.

I borrowed my sister’s car, and we went to the big supermarket on the edge of the city, where they sold them in 500g buckets (that’s about a pound in freedom units). We also bought transparent food wrap.

Back home, we ate a little off the top of the bucket because they were delicious. Keeping the online reviews in mind, we only ate a moderate amount and left the rest for H. I even specifically told him, “Do not touch my gummy bears.”

They knew him well, because the plan worked like a charm.

But knowing H, we figured it was only a matter of hours before he couldn’t control himself. So we put the toilet seat up, wrapped the toilet with the clear plastic, and put the seat back down.

We calculated correctly.

Within a couple of hours, all the gummy bears were gone. Just after my other roommate found the empty bucket, H stormed into the bathroom and literally **** on his back and the back of his head.

After that, H obviously ranted that we were all *** and said he was going to move out. We all told him he was more than welcome to. In the end, he stayed and never touched our food again, so mission accomplished, I guess.

Gross! There’s no wonder he didn’t touch their food again.

Let’s check out the reactions from Reddit readers, and see what they think about the whole thing.

This person is literally out of their mind!

It is pretty evil.

According to this comment, there’s a review about this very thing on Amazon.

It seems like a coworker got into these gummy bears.

No food is worth all of that.

But you can’t say he didn’t deserve it, because he was warned more than once.

Still, though, that was a pretty brutal way to learn the lesson.

The good news for him was that it only took one time.
