When in college, the point of coming to class is to learn and get your assignments, not just showing up for the sake of showing up.

What would you do if you had all the work done for the entire semester and the teachers didn’t have anything else for you to do at the moment?

That is the situation that the young man in this story is in, so he is thinking about skipping school for the next few days until the new semester begins.

Personally, I can’t see any reason why he shouldn’t, as long as the professor is not teaching anything new. Read through the full explination below and see if you agree.

WIBTAH for skipping school

I’m in college, but since last weeks wednesday I’m done with all of my assigments.

If he has nothing to do in class, why show up?

I got 2 extra assigments and finished the last one yesterday morning. My teachers dont know what else to let me do. (I’m ahead of all my classmates)

I spoke about this with my mum (who is usually pretty strict education wise) and she told me to just call in sick and skip school.

Why waste his time?

This isn’t really something for me, so I went this morning, and after 2 hours of just sitting on my phone (due to lack of assigments) I started to get really bored, after break I saw my next (theory, so math and english) class fell out and became independed-work hours.

When I saw that I realised I wouldn’t have anything to do the next 4 hours so I took my mums advice and went home ‘sick’.

Nope, this is the right thing to do.

There is no benefit to showing up to class from what he says here. Plus, in college, attendance is not usually monitored very strictly.

He knew he had an A, so why show up?

In college, professors don’t usually care if you show up as long as you get the work done. In this case, there doesn’t seem to be any reason to go to these last few classes.

Of course, if there is a chance of a pop quiz or other test, that might change.
