Feeling guilty because your ex has to pay child support for your children shouldn’t be a real thing!

In this story, a mother shares how her ex tried to make her feel guilty because he had to pay child support for their kids. She actually wondered if she was wrong for insisting that he pay.

Check out how things escalated when she met her ex and his girlfriend for dinner.

AITAH for not agreeing to take my kids father off of child support

Been broken up for almost 5 years. I have recently gotten married, he has a gf.

He has always been very toxic since the break up.

When he has a gf he is not he’s actually civil.

So recently he and his gf invited me and my husband to dinner to talk about the kids.

Watch how things escalate…

We went talked about the kids birthday parties and stuff since we hadn’t done anything together since the first year we spilt and it was not good. He got drunk and the bday party and was causing a scene and trying to fight my entire family.

Dinner started fine. Talked about bday parties and I said if the kids wanted it we were fine with that.

Then the gf forgot to mention my husband had told me before he showed up he would only give his opinion if I asked him for it he was there to support me because he knew I had a lot of anxiety about meeting.

So the gf then said I think the oldest needs therapy they don’t talk much or open up to us. She got this from spending a total of at the most 8 days a month with them.

UH OH…

I asked why she said she doesn’t tell us how she feels she thinks she has low self esteem.

I said ok I will talk to my child and see what they want but I would not force it.

The gf said it should be forced because they should open up to both parents.

I do not agree. I have always had a good relationship with my children and they have their safe adults with in my family and at their school they open up too.

This is probably the real reason for the meeting.

Then my ex drops it.

I want you to take me off child support. I can’t afford it I can’t do anything.

Mind you they just came back from vacation that the took my children too.

The child support is court ordered. It has been this way since September of last year due to him paying whatever he wanted when he wanted even though we had an agreement.

Here are some more details about child support.

It was 500 in groceries. I just needed it on a specific day each month and on time. But there was always an excuse especially when I started dating someone.

We have our final court hearing for child support next week btw.

Gf then started asking well how much do you want a month to take him off. She kept repeating it and I got mad.

Bad thing about me when I get mad I cry. So I went off talking about I couldn’t count on him when we had an agreement, that my children suffered because he didn’t help.

He got defensive and said he’s always supported his kids that’s a lie.

They were being so unreasonable about the whole thing…

My husband did jump in and said well when we started dating he would see me stress about being able to do everything and being able to just get the kids basic needs because I would do it alone.

My husband has always offered to help from the beginning it my pride would not allow me to take his help. At the beginning but I needed to do whatever for my kids so he helped me financially the entire year and a half my ex did not.

I was mad and crying and my husband then said ok this conversation is done. She is upset and she is having to defend her self because you refused to take responsibility for your children’s too.

He did tell my ex you can’t sit here and pretend to be a good dad but not take the responsibility that comes along with it.

So aitah for refusing to take him off child support?

That sounds super annoying!

Why would she even feel bad about this in the first place?
