The dad who wrote the story below didn’t realize he did anything wrong when it came to how he treated his son and his daughter, but his daughter quickly made him realize that he was out of line and being unfair.

AITA for buying parking for my son only and not my daughter?

“I (56M, Korean dad) am buying two small office rooms for my children.

My son will become a lawyer very soon, and my daughter just returned to Korea after studying and working in US and the UK. She is starting a consulting business now. Both offices are in same building.

In Korea we have these pink parking spots. They are big, wide and painted pink, and meant only for women drivers. Many buildings have them to make parking more easy and more safe for women, especially near entrances. Men cannot use them, they get told off fast.

Parking spaces in this building are really expensive. So I thought I would buy one parking spot for my son, since he cannot use the pink spots at all, and then save money by not buying one for my daughter, because she already has access to many pink spots.

She wasn’t happy about this.

But when I told them, my daughter got annoyed. She said she doesn’t want to use the pink spots and she always avoids them, even if empty. I don’t really understand why, she never explained a clear reason to me, just that she doesn’t like them and doesn’t want to park there.

My son actually agrees with me and said it makes sense I buy only his parking since he has no other option. He even told his sister she is overreacting and she has more than enough parking already.

He doesn’t get it…

From my side it was just practical saving money. If she can park there, why I must buy extra expensive parking? It feels logical to me.

But now she say I am being unfair and treating her different, even though I really don’t understand why she refuse to use those spots.
