Things can get pretty darn dicey when it comes to splitting up bills with roommates.

The excuses start to pile up, and before you know it, dissecting every single bill with someone becomes ludicrous.

The man who wrote this story is having a dilemma with his potential new roommate because the guy thinks he should be able to pay less than everyone else for the electric bill.

Check out what’s going on here…

Should I let a housemate pay less bills?

“I’m looking at moving in with two good friends, one of which I’ve lived with before with no major issues.

The friend I’ve lived with before wants to pay less in electric than us.

He has two main reasons:

Okay…

He works out the house every weekday and some weekends, where me and my other friend work from home and don’t often leave the house.

Our difference of opinions when it comes to heating. His opinion is more conservative about it.

Setting timers, not using it if its not needed. He also doesn’t like sleeping in a warm room.

Me and my other friend agree that we like it cosy day and night. I tend to keep it on most of the day from mid autumn to mid spring. As for summer, we are basically the same, so it doesn’t really matter as much.

These folks have some business to work out…

So he wants to pay less, my other friend wants him to pay the same and I’m not sure what to think.

We are all really good friends and they even know I’m posting this to see what other people think.”

And this is what folks had to say about this on Reddit.

Well, they’ve got some math in their future, don’t they?

I guess this isn’t totally unreasonable…

But maybe it’s a sign of things to come…

These potential roommates need to figure this out before they move into a place together.
