Don’t comment on other people’s appearance. Is that so hard to understand? Depending on the comment, it can come off as rude or creepy, so it’s better not to say anything at all.
In this story, one old man clearly hasn’t learned his lesson. He makes a rude comment about a pharmacy technician, and he seems to think she either doesn’t hear him or won’t call him out on it.
He’s wrong.
Keep reading to find out what happens when she confronts him.
Shut Down an Old White Man Being Rude About My Hair
I’m (29f) a pharmacy technician, and I like to have fun with my appearance.
I have very curly teal hair, tattoos, and a septum piercing, so I tend to stand out in the small town I currently live in.
Old white men are the absolute worst about making rude comments about my appearance.
This really is a rude thing to say.
This morning a man comes in and makes a snide remark to the cashier about my hair color. Something about “what happened to her head? Was she painting a house?”
Our sweet cashier went “huh?” Knowing he was being rude and pretending like she didn’t understand.
I piped up from the back as I’m filling his wife’s prescription and said, “don’t worry he’s just being rude.”
She still helped him out.
He immediately starts back tracking, saying he didn’t mean it like that and I have pretty hair, etc.
Why’d you say it then? Oh yeah it’s because you weren’t expecting me to say anything. (Didn’t say that, just kept silent and let him enjoy the flavor of his foot in his mouth).
So then I ended up saving them like $100 on the prescription he was getting filled with a manufacturer coupon.
He felt really bad after that because the pharmacist also made sure to tell him that it was me who found and applied that coupon for them. Felt good.
Don’t judge a book by its cover, and if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. These are lessons little kids learn. This old man needs to grow up!
Let’s see how Reddit responded to this story.
This is interesting.
Another person shares a time she noticed a customer’s hair.
Someone with purple hair shares the best comment she ever received about her hair.

I’d like to see a picture. I didn’t know this was a thing!
It was very rude of the customer to joke about her hair like that. He shouldn’t have said anything.
She definitely proved herself to be the bigger person by helping him get a discount after he insulted her.
When are people going to learn to be nice?
