If you’ve never worked in a kitchen before, let me fill you in.
There’s a lot of banter, a lot of ribbing, and a lot of trash talking.
But, if you take things too far, you run the risk of getting booted out the door in a hurry.
That’s why you have to feel things out and know what kind of personalities you’re dealing with before you open your mouth.
In today’s story, a kitchen worker explained why he got canned after he talked back to his boss.
Check out what he had to say.
I got fired over a cup of water.
“This afternoon, I got fired because I wanted to drink a cup of water on the kitchen floor after cleaning the grill.
I was sweating, I was told by one of the managers (A) that I couldn’t walk around with the cup while drinking it. I have to drink it then throw it away.
Another manager (B) chimed in and said that I needed to go to the back, in the break room to drink it.
Okay…
I was dumbfounded and said, “What the hell? Alright whatever.” And walked to the back to drink it.
I thought the rule was stupid and I was talking to another coworker in the back. I said, “I liked the other Spanish manager. She doesn’t yell at me like Manager B.”
Manager A walks to the back and asks if there’s an issue.
I told her, “we aren’t talking about you, dude” and she walked away.
He’s outta there!
Now, after 2 days, I’m being told that 3 people said I cussed at a manager under my breath and refused to follow orders and I hesitated to follow them.
They won’t transfer me back to my old store and the higher ups basically told me to get lost.
At least, I can apply for unemployment while I fix up on my car to do some gig work while looking for employment.
This sucks. This was sudden.”
And this is what readers had to say on Reddit.
This person weighed in.
Another individual shared their thoughts.

And this person spoke up.
Yeah, it sounds like this guy rubs a lot of people the wrong way and he just doesn’t realize it.
It might be time for some introspection so this doesn’t happen again!
Take it as a lesson and move on.
His managers weren’t playing around when they fired him!
