Imagine renting a room from a landlord who has an outdoor dog. If the temperatures were extremely hot, would you want to bring the dog inside, or would you figure that it’s fine for the dog to stay outside?

In this story, one renter is in this situation, and she’s worried about the dog. She doesn’t think it’s a good idea to leave the dog outside in the hottest part of the summer especially since the dog is a Husky, a breed that does better in cold weather.

Her friend suggested that she call animal control, but now she’s wondering if that’s actually the right thing to do or not.

Let’s read all about it.

AITAH for calling animals on my landlords for them leaving their husky in 90°

so right now I’m renting a room until I can rent a place of my own and the people I’m renting from has a husky.

The husky is outdoor dog but when it comes to heat, storm warnings and other forms of intense weather that isn’t cold, the dog stays outside chained up.

One day about a year ago my area has experiencing heaving rain and there was call for a flood warning.

I asked if I should bring the dog in since the dog was leaning against the back door trying to get it and crying.

That poor dog!

They say “she’s fine” when she’s clearly trying to get in the house.

Last summer we had 2 intense heat waves, 95°-100° lasting 2 separate weeks. One week they were in vacation and their uncle was dog sitting.

I asked both times if I should bring the dog in to cool off because again they have a husky.

They say no she has water.

She helped the best she could.

She didn’t have water because they never refill it.

I giver the dog ice water.

The week they were gone I wanted to bring her in but the issue is I had no where to put her.

The husky is very hyper active and doesn’t have a crate.

Her friend made a suggestion.

Fast forward to this summer temps are reading the mid 90s and they still refuse to being the dog in.

One of my friends suggested that I make an anonymous tip to local animal control for a welfare check.

The first call they went to the wrong home but the next day they came. The required them to buy a dog house and to bring the dog inside.

That was about 2 weeks ago. This week and the next few weeks temps are again gonna be in the high 80s to mid 90s. Would I be wrong if I kept calling animal control if they leave their husky out in the heat?

I definitely think she should keep calling animal control. Let’s see if Reddit agrees.

This person thinks the dog deserves better.

This is a good question.

One person shares a sad story.

Another person thinks the husky is miserable.

I feel so bad for that dog! It deserves to be loved and cared for. Don’t the owners understand that this dog is not built for high heat? It needs a cool place to go in the summer months. Maybe even an air conditioned area in a garage or a shed or a dog house if they insist on it being an outdoor dog all year round. She should definitely keep calling animal control.
