Ahhh, this brings back some memories

It transports me to a time when I was excited to get out into the world and take it by storm!

Well…things didn’t exactly work out that way…

And, if you’re young, I’m here to tell you that they usually never do.

It’s just part of life and you gotta roll with the punches and keep doing your best.

But still, it can be disappointing.

In today’s story, a young woman explained how her experience in the real world has been a huge letdown.

Let’s take a look!

I was so excited to enter the workforce.

“I graduated college in 2023.

I had stellar grades throughout college, great internships, and received a lot of honors for my participation in clubs and associations. Graduating college was such an exciting time because I was looking forward to entering the workforce.

Got a job a few months out of college for a position my old intern advisor recommended me for and could not wait for what the future would hold.

Then reality hit…

Nearly three years later and I just can’t believe I was ever excited about this.

Working long hours with barely any sort of recognition on the work I’ve done, suffocating manager who will barely ever let me take on projects of my own even though I’ve shown more than once that I’m capable of doing so.

The list goes on and on…

Disrespect from clients who think I should just be at their beck and call, execs treating me and my associates like garbage since we’re lower level employees, like it’s not enough that they’re making 3 times what we’re making and most of us can barely afford to live.

It’s so demoralizing.

But wait, there’s more!

And God forbid you speak up against it. I very politely told a member of leadership to get lost after he was harassing me and trying to get me to rat on another employee for something unimportant, and he still has it out for me to this day.

Mind you, this happened two years ago.

It just sucks. And yes, I’ve been trying to find another job, but I barely ever hear back from the jobs I do apply for and all the other positions on the job board are looking for years of experience that I don’t have.

It sucks, man. I want to go back to college.”

Well, now she knows!

It ain’t pretty out there, but all you can do is your best!

It’ll all work out in the end!

She’s stuck in a job that she doesn’t want any part of anymore…
