Sometimes, a quick negative reaction can unintentionally hurt the person you are talking to.
The following story is about a young woman who was talking to her friend about some food place suggestions.
When her friend was recommending one, she immediately said, “Yuck,” without letting her finish her statement.
She had never tried the food herself and only reacted based on negative reviews she had seen online.
Her friend went quiet and quickly changed the subject, leaving her to wonder whether she had accidentally offended her.

AITA for saying “yuck” before my friend even finished recommending a food place?
I (20F) have been thinking about this for a few days because I can’t stop replaying it in my head.
A friend and I were talking about places to eat after class.
She started saying, “You should try this food stall…,” and before she could even finish, I immediately said, “Yuck.”
The reason I reacted that way is because I had heard of the stall before.
It’s actually pretty famous, but I’ve also seen a lot of negative reviews online.
Especially people saying the food wasn’t that good.
This young woman realized that what she did may have been rude.
I had never actually eaten there myself. I just reacted based on what I’d seen.
The moment I said it, she just went quiet for a second and then continued talking about something else.
She didn’t look angry or call me out, so I didn’t think much of it at the time.
It wasn’t until I got home that I realized how rude I must have sounded.
She wasn’t even done explaining what she wanted to recommend.
She hasn’t had a chance to apologize.
Looking back, it probably came across like I was dismissing her opinion instead of just reacting to the restaurant.
We haven’t seen each other since then, and we don’t usually chat outside of school.
So I haven’t had a chance to apologize. Now, I’m worried she’s been thinking about it more than she let on.
I genuinely didn’t mean to insult her or make it seem like her recommendation was stupid.
It was just one of those moments where my mouth moved faster than my brain. AITA?
OP could definitely have waited until her friend finished speaking before reacting.
But… it all happens to us, I guess, where our mouths speak faster than our brains.
Still, the fact that she realized her mistake afterward shows that she genuinely did not mean to insult her friend or dismiss her opinion.

Sometimes, we have to let our brain load completely before we let our mouth start talking.
