Everyone knows that in long-term friendships, you have to pick your battles.
One renter toured a basement apartment she genuinely liked, passing on it only because she wanted a one-bedroom instead of a studio.
Thinking her friend, who was apartment hunting at the same time, might actually want it, she sent over the listing without a second thought.
The reaction wasn’t gratitude. It was instant anger, with accusations of condescension built entirely on words she never said.
Now she’s at a total loss for why her friend would react this way.

AITA for sending my friend a Zillow listing
Me and a friend were apartment hunting around the same time.
I saw (and toured) a basement apartment that I really liked but ended up passing on because I wanted a 1 bed and not a studio.
I also didn’t love the idea of living in a basement. But it was so cheap and so nice, I truly was considering it.
So she did what she thought was the decent thing and passed the listing along.
I thought maybe my friend would be interested, so I sent her the listing.
Her friend doesn’t take it well at all.
Instantly she gets mad at me and insinuates I’m being condescending, and that I’m putting her down because “if it’s not good enough for you, why do you think it would be good enough for me?”
This reaction completely caught her off guard.
I’m shocked, cuz that was not my intent nor the language I used.
I explained that I wasn’t trying to mean anything by it, and that I really thought it was nice and that she might like to know about it.
She stays mad and tells me I’m invalidating her experience.
Her friend was prepared to hold a huge grudge over this.
Anyways, come to find out 2 months later she’s been building resentment towards me because I wouldn’t roll over and apologize for words she put in my mouth.
AITA?
All of this over a Zillow listing?
Redditors are sure to have some strong opinions.
This commenter thinks it’s strange her friend would behave this way.
A big misunderstanding is really all this was.
It’s almost like this friend went out of her way to misconstrue her words.

The friend could be taking her own struggles out on someone who was just trying to help.
Sending a friend an apartment listing is about as low-stakes as favors get — it really didn’t deserve the kind of bombastic reaction that it got.
The apartment wasn’t right for this renter, and that’s completely okay. She wasn’t trying to send some kind of secret message to her friend by passing on the listing. She was simply trying to be helpful.
Now it seems like her friend is intent on holding this grudge, but the thing is, she really didn’t try and see the situation from any other angles.
Some people just take things way too personally.
