Sometimes, a small problem at home can lead to a much bigger family argument.

This woman came home from the gym with her mom wanting to take a shower, only to find their brother already using one of their bathrooms. The other shower was rarely used and had some issues, but OP still suggested that their mom use it. However, a small change to the shower setup caused an unexpected problem and soon led to a heated argument between their parents.

Read the full story below. It’s a relatable situation where an honest mistake could lead to a bigger argument.

AITA for insisting my mom use a broken shower?

In case it’s good to know, my mom has ADHD. My brother probably has it too, and my dad probably has autism.

I’m diagnosed with ADHD and autism.

So, my mom and I just got home from the gym.

Despite the fact that we’ve told him over and over again, my brother was in the shower when we arrived.

Obviously, we also wanted to take a shower, but we only have two, and the other one doesn’t work properly.

This woman suggested that her mom use the broken shower.

I insisted my mom use the ‘broken’ shower, so that it doesn’t take forever.

My brother showers for like 1 hour at the very least because he sings and dances a lot.

Anyway, my dad is the only one that uses that shower, and also the only one who knows what to do to avoid any leaks.

So when my mom used it, she removed a bag with stones in it that was hanging on one of the water taps.

But she didn’t know that it was there so that the weight would somehow prevent leaks.

I don’t know how it works, honestly. She just thought it was just there.

Her parents started fighting about it.

So now, it’s leaking, and my parents got into a pretty big fight about it.

This makes me feel bad because had I not insisted my mom use the broken shower, none of this would’ve happened.

So AITA?

I honestly think both OP and her mom were not at fault in this situation. They both didn’t know what the bag with stones was for. They simply needed to wash up, and it was an honest mistake to remove the weight. It sounds like the situation was an accident, and there was no reason for OP to expect that using the shower would lead to such a problem.
