Recovering from childbirth only women can understand.

This woman recently gave birth and is still recovering from a C-section while caring for a newborn. Her husband, on the other hand, was handling work and their home renovation. As she decided to use freezer meals during this time, he criticized her for moving slowly and not cooking delicious meals.

This story is one of those situations where both partners may be feeling overwhelmed after the birth of their child. But I think it’s important to remember that they are dealing with very different responsibilities and should be more supportive of each other. Read the full story below.

AITAH for “moving slow” during recovery

I (31F) and husband (38M) just bought a house.

We are still living in the old one because the new one is in renovation.

He’s in charge of dealing with the contractor and design decisions for the renovation.

Because I’m 4 weeks postpartum after a C-section. The recovery has been slow and painful.

This woman was still recovering from her C-section delivery.

We don’t have family in this country, so we don’t have support system that help us during this time.

I have been dealing with terrible backaches. The incision still hurts.

I’m also breastfeeding and sleep deprived. I’m trying to do my best.

About a week and a half after giving birth, I had to start heating up the meals I had cooked and frozen before delivery.

I started picking up toys, doing laundry, and stuff like that. Otherwise, no one will do it.

Her husband called her out for not cooking delicious food.

Yesterday, my husband told me that I haven’t cooked any meals for the past weeks, except for breakfast.

That I move so slow and I don’t do anything. He says that he’s doing too much for the family.

Like he’s working, checking on the renovation, checking material, paying bills, etc.

Today, I cooked chicken and it didn’t came out the best. He said it was horrible and it’s upsetting that we don’t have any good food to eat.

AITAH for moving to slowly and not cooking enough?

Giving birth is not an easy feat, and OP was clearly taking her time to recover. With no real help, it’s understandable why she couldn’t cook homemade meals. Her husband, at the very least, should cut her some slack and be more forgiving about her situation. He could also help out more to make things easier for everyone.

Let’s read the comments of other Redditors on this story.

Here’s an honest opinion.

Another one chimes in.

People are siding with OP.

Short and honest.
