It’s always annoying when someone ignores the information right in front of them and expects an employee to explain everything instead.

One cafe worker deals with that constantly while serving passengers from a counter with menus posted throughout the car.

Even with food, drinks, and snacks clearly listed, customers still walk up and ask what they have.

She usually points them toward one of the menus, only for them to admit they somehow missed it.

After moving the signs around and trying different spots, though, nothing seems to help.

Customers who don’t look at the menus and just ask “What you got?”

I work in a cafe, so the customers/passengers come up to the counter to order and then take their food to tables or back to their seats.

I work in a traveling-in-a-metal-tube sort of job.

We have menus all over our car, yet people gloss over them/pass them up and come right to me and say, “What do you have?” or “What sandwiches do you have?”

Just pointing them to the menu makes him feel rude.

I feel kinda like an ******* pointing them to view the menu, look at the display to my right of the beverages and snacks I have available for purchase, or take a look at the picture menus, which are usually behind me and above a little bit on the wall, because I feel like it makes them look like an idiot.

And they go, “Oh! I totally passed it up!” or “Oh, I didn’t even see that, haha.” Some even go, “Oh, this is my first time doing this.”

I want to say, “This is your first time ordering food someplace?” but I don’t. Like… Who does this? I’ve never encountered it in real life anywhere. People who wander into any random fast-food place you can name look right at the menu before ordering.

It happens so much, he just wants it to stop.

This happens so often, I wish I knew a way to stop it. It gets irritating that so many people are apparently that oblivious.

I try to move some menus around and place them in different locations in my car, but really to no avail.

And for the record, the people aren’t asking me what I recommend. People who are asking that actually ask that question.

Eek. The same questions over and over do get really old.

There’s nothing wrong with asking a question, but when the answer is posted all around you, it just feels very unnecessary.

Considering she’s tried moving the menus around multiple times, she should try something else. Maybe installing a larger sign or placing a menu board out front could help.

Still though, no matter what she does, some people just don’t pay attention.
