Imagine buying a home in a nice neighborhood, moving in, and thinking you’re on good terms with the neighbors.
If the neighbors did something you didn’t like that might go against the city rules, would you report them or mind your own business so you don’t get on bad terms with the neighbors?
In this story, one couple is in this situation, and they’re not sure how to handle it. It seems like they’re trying to be nice to the neighbors, but they also don’t like what their neighbors have done.
Let’s read all about it.
AITA for reporting my neighbors to the city codes department ?
Me (23) and my boyfriend (22) just bought our first home about 9 months ago.
When we moved in we introduced ourselves to our new neighbors and everything was fine.
This is a bold question to ask.
Flash forward 9 months (now) and our neighbors comes to us and tell us that they are having extended family move states to come and live with them, but they are out of space in their house so asked if they could move in to our basement.
We did not feel comfortable with this so we declined.
They then proceeded to go and purchase two campers they have them parked in the street behind my driveway, causing for it to be a headache to get out.
They also have an extension cord running across the road from the house to the camper.
This couple is not okay with this situation.
AITA for reporting this to the city?
I understand that people fall on hard times and you gotta do what you gotta do, but don’t feel that this is an adequate solution.
If they’re not allowed to have the campers there or the extension cord, go ahead and report it.
Let’s see what Reddit suggests.
This person votes for reporting them.
The first request was very creepy!
Another person thinks the neighbors need to be reported.

Everyone thinks reporting the neighbors is the right thing to do.
I wouldn’t want campers parked on the street in front of my house. I get that the neighbors are helping out their family members, but they’re going to have to find somewhere else for them to live.
Hopefully they can report them anonymously so the neighbors don’t know who reported them. The neighbors don’t sound like bad people. If anything, they may have problems setting boundaries with their family members. Maybe the neighbors will actually be relieved to be forced to move the campers and get their family members out.
Either way, reporting them can only help.
